Pond, Early Spring

Oil on canvas, 10" x 10"      As I write, another storm is moving in with freezing rain, sleet, and heavy snow.  Instead of posting a new winter painting, I thought this taste of Spring would offer some encouragement. Just think, within 8 weeks, many of you will be mowing the grass! (sold)

Florida Sunporch

Oil on canvas, 30" x 24"

I decided to take a break from winter and post something a little different.  This is an oil of a friend's sunporch I completed in 2008. The light shines through the vines and illuminates the porch for only a week or two this time of the year. The textures in the vines, plants, furniture and floor provided an interesting compositional challenge.  This painting received the Frank and Andrea Swartz Memorial Award, Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts Competition, 2008.

Early Snowfall, Antrim County - 4

Oil on canvas, 10" x 10"     This day in early November could have been described as dark and gloomy, except that it wasn't!  The patterns in the landscape were strong, set off by sunlight peeking through lowering clouds spreading a blanket of snow across the land now at rest.

Early Morning Snowfall

Oil on canvas, 14" x 11"    The snowplow had not yet passed through to eclipse the beauty of a January morning snowfall.

December Snowfall

Oil on canvas - 10" x 8"      As I write the first storm of the winter season is moving in, and once again the color palette changes to a breathtaking range of blues, purples, earth tones, and whites.  This remains my favorite time of the year for paintings.

At this time I wish you a Most Blessed Christmas season!
